What this really says is that being worried about losing our humanity assumes we are human in the first place. If we're spending billions so our areas look more visibly consumable by strangers, the suggestion exists that we skipped happily past humanity some time ago, probably when the majority of humanity had to stop grubbing for food daily to avoid death.
